The World Championship final recently concluded with an intense battle among four teams in South Africa. The stakes were high, with the coveted trophy and a prize money of $500,000 up for grabs.
The final took place in Episode 12 of the spinoff season on Paramount Plus, featuring competitors boarding the Fear Express train. The course consisted of long stretches of challenging terrain in a loop.
The teams engaged in a grueling footrace, traversing rough landscapes and reaching various stations set up as checkpoints. These stations tested their mental and physical abilities to the fullest.
In the end, it was the seasoned three-time Challenge champion, Jordan Wiseley, and the winner of The Challenge: UK, Kaz Crossley, who emerged victorious. They showcased their exceptional skills, outperforming the competition.
The roster of competitors included formidable teams like Kaycee Clark with Troy Cullen, Sarah Lacina with Theo Campbell, and Danny McCray with Tori Deal. Sarah, who had previously won Survivor and The Challenge: USA, teamed up with Theo, who had experience as a runner-up in The Challenge: War of the Worlds final. They seemed like a team to beat.
Unfortunately, the unforgiving nature of the final took its toll, as it often does. Theo suffered an ankle or foot injury when he accidentally stepped into a hole along the trail. Despite the pain, he valiantly attempted to continue with Sarah. However, the injury proved too severe, and Theo had to sit down. Tearfully, he made the difficult decision to give up, leading to their disqualification from the competition. An ambulance was called to tend to Theo’s injury.
After watching the episode, Theo took to Twitter and shared his thoughts. He acknowledged that the final was comparable in difficulty to The Challenge: War of the Worlds but mentioned that a significant portion of the footage was not included in the edit. He revealed that they covered a separate section of about 6-7 miles that didn’t make it to the episode, and he even continued with a broken foot for an additional 7 miles. Despite their elimination, Theo congratulated Kaz and Jordan on their well-deserved win.
The runner-up team in the final was Tori and Danny, who were hot on the heels of Kaz and Jordan at one point. They had to wait for Kaz and Jordan to finish the Sick Smoothie station before continuing their pursuit. Danny echoed Theo’s sentiment about the editing, claiming that approximately 30% of the final wasn’t shown in the episode. Nevertheless, he congratulated the winners and expressed excitement about filling in the missing parts of the story.
Throughout the season, Danny, a former winner of The Challenge: USA, had made it clear that his goal was to eliminate his toughest competition before reaching the final. This included targeting Jordan and Kaycee. Thanks to Tori’s insistence that they were her friends and trusted allies, both Jordan and Kaycee managed to secure a spot in the final. Danny’s intuition proved to be correct, as Jordan, a three-time Challenge champion, reached the final and ultimately emerged victorious alongside his capable partner, Kaz.
The thrilling conclusion of the World Championship final showcased the fierce competition and the physical and mental challenges faced by the teams. Kaz and Jordan’s impressive triumph, despite the setbacks and injuries endured by their opponents, solidified their status as formidable champions in the world of The Challenge.
