“Play Riley Meredith Instead Of Chris Jordan”- Aakash Chopra’s Suggestion To Mumbai Indians For Qualifier 2 Clash Against Gujarat Titans

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has given Mumbai Indians a key suggestion on choosing the proper playing XI for their Qualifier 2 clash against Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 26. The match will be played in Ahmedabad on Friday and the winner will take on Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final on Sunday.

Aakash Chopra while speaking about MI’s possible playing XI for the game said that the Australian pacer Riley Meredith can be a better option for MI rather than Chris Jordan. Jordan has a reputation for being a death overs specialist but has not bowled well so far. This season he has picked up just three wickets from five games at an economy of 10.06. Joran was named Jofra Archer’s replacement earlier this season.

Jordan bowled well at the death against LSG in the previous game. He bowled two overs for just runs and took the crucial wicket of Kyle Mayers. He also bowled a maiden. Despite his efforts in the last game, Chopra still believes Meredith will be a better option than Jordan.

I am saying Riley Meredith will be a better option, play him but Chris Jordan is playing. He bowled a maiden over in the last match – incredible, and dismissed Kyle Mayers – super incredible” said Aakash Chopra while previewing the game on his Youtube channel.

Chopra further expects Jason Behrendorff and Akash Madhwal to step up with the ball for Mumbai Indians. Behrendorff has picked up 14 wickets for the season and Madhwal has picked up 23. The right-arm pacer is fresh off a fifer in the Eliminator against LSG.

“I feel Jason Behrendorff will be extremely valuable with the new ball in the second innings. Akash Madhwal is doing an amazing job in any case. Piyush Chawla picked up two wickets both times he played against this team. There will be pressure on him as well” Chopra further added.

Along with the two pacers, Piyush Chawla has also picked up 21 wickets this season, his most fruitful season in the IPL. The three bowlers will be key for MI as they look to win their sixth title.
