ABC’s long-awaited dating show, The Golden Bachelor, is finally set to premiere in the fall, and it seems that Martha Stewart is well aware of the upcoming series. It wouldn’t be surprising if the renowned lifestyle expert tunes in to catch The Golden Bachelor in 2023.
The show will center around individuals over the age of 60 who are seeking a perfect partner to spend their golden years with. Although the identity of the Golden Bachelor and the senior ladies vying for his heart have not been revealed yet, Martha Stewart, who is 81 years old and therefore eligible for the show, would undoubtedly attract a significant viewership if she were to participate.
During an interview with Variety, Martha was naturally asked about the forthcoming show and the possibility of her being a part of it. She expressed her openness to the idea, stating that she would consider joining The Golden Bachelor but only if she had the opportunity to see the men beforehand.
Given that the series will follow the same format as the regular Bachelor but with an older cast—featuring one male lead and several female contestants—it appears that Martha might be more inclined to take on a role in a potential spinoff called “Golden Bachelorette,” although ABC has not announced such a project. However, if someone of Martha Stewart’s stature were willing to lead the show, it’s highly likely that ABC would seriously consider offering her the role.
Nevertheless, fans should not hold their breath as Martha Stewart has a packed schedule. When asked about the possibility of participating in a reality dating show, Martha explained that her existing commitments to her cooking, entertaining, and gardening shows leave her with little time for such ventures. She did mention that she was approached to appear on Dancing with the Stars but couldn’t make it due to her busy schedule. Nevertheless, her involvement would have undoubtedly been entertaining.
With the writers’ strike causing delays in new scripted offerings, ABC has heavily leaned toward reality TV for its fall 2023 schedule. Dancing with the Stars will return to its Monday night slot at 8/7c, followed by The Golden Bachelor at 10/9c. It promises to be an enjoyable evening of reality television, featuring both celebrities dancing and mature singles searching for love.
