GT vs CSK: Flem Was The Antithesis Of MS

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis talked about playing under the coaching of Stephen Fleming at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the former Kiwi batter was the antithesis of skipper MS Dhoni in terms of style. 

Faf du Plessis parted ways from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2022 auction after 11 long years. He was the main reason behind the team winning titles in the league and becoming the second most successful franchise.

Faf du Plessis defined Stephen Fleming as a great man manager and narrated how he found himself like himself. Writing in his book, Faf Through Fire, he said:

“Flem was the antithesis of MS in terms of style. When I arrived, I assumed that the two of us would be more similar, because. I valued a structured approach to leadership that manifested in detailed planning, training and meetings. In my decade under Flem’s coaching, I experienced him as a great man manager.”

GT vs CSK: “His one-on-one style improves players,” Faf du Plessis on Stephen Fleming 

Faf du Plessis further went on highlight how Stephen Fleming brings the best out of his players and added that he doesn’t have an inflated ego. He explained: 

“He is warm and earnest, he has a fantastic sense of humour, and he forms an instantaneous connection with players and members of his management just by being himself. His one-on-one style improves players, but he’s also a compelling public speaker with an intellectual touch. And, importantly, he doesn’t have an inflated ego.” 

Faf du Plessis was in fantastic touch in the IPL 2023. He’s currently the leading run-getter in the season so far with his tally of over 700 runs. But unfortunately, he couldn’t add to his runs this year as RCB has been eliminated from the league.
