Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Badhaai Do’ was loved by the audiences ever since it released last year in February 2022. The film did an average business at the box office but it kept getting a lot of love through word of mouth after it released. Moroever, people who watched it on OTT talk about it as it gave a very important message around the LGBTQ community. It was also a very well made film, which explains why it was nominated in 14 categories at the Filmfare Awards 2023.
‘Badhaai Do’ ended up taking home 6 awards in various categories. While Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor In A Leading Role, Bhumi Pednekar won the Best Actress (Critics’). The team got together tonight to celebrate its winning streak at the Filmfare Awards 2023.
Present at the occasion were Rajkummar, Seema Pahwa, Chum Darang, Gulshan Deviah, and director Harshvardhan Kulkarni.
Huma Qureshi also came to cheer for the team. However, Bhumi was not present at the celebrations.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Bhumi had said, “I’m thrilled because ‘Badhaai Do’ is a very special film. It’s a very important film for our generation and for generations to come because it speaks about the relevant rights of the LGBTQ community. Even when the film released, it got immense love but when it’s celebrated on a platform like Filmfare, it makes you feel validated and you feel encouraged as an artist to stand by the stories you believe in.”
